Wire Me Pretty

Well, the inspirations for cards this year are: wire hearts, buttons, flowers, and lace... I can't wait to start piecing them together!

Buttons, Cloth, and Loving You

We sit in a field of dried grass
and branches broken beneath our feet-
my skin has gone cold

from the wind off of the rocks and water.

If we open the sky, I tell you
we will find the key
to all our sorrows
and all our joys...

No matter their color,
or their weight.

We can name them secret names
and hold each other
until the sun decides to bury itself

behind the black mountains.

Buttons, and cloth, and the smell
of your neck-
keep it close
because I love you too much,
and I dare not walk out

of this field without you.

Hold my hand, as the wind slaps our knees.
Unveil your secret flesh
and dizzy love.

Say my name once more.

Sashes, wool mittens, kittens
and coral fish...
Rainstorms, a lover's neck
Parchment, quills
Calligraphy- roses
made of metal and wire,
Photography
Paper hearts- Valentine's Day
Swing sets, trapeze artists,
Honey on toast
Hot tea,
Copper pots and kettles
Old maps,
Ships and
Doorknobs
Hooks for jackets and things
Bicycles, riding them on the beach
Swimming in the ocean,
Salt air, fresh linen
Laundry lines with hand washed clothes
Passports with stamps
Postcards from all over the world
Girls in pretty dresses
Peacoats, lace, fires in the
fireplace- Christmas ribbons and bows
Sleeping, homemade soups and
Soaps wrapped in paper
Homemade stew and listening to jazz,
Hoolahoops, climbing mountains,
Snow on tree branches,
Figs and persimmons wrapped in cloth
Sand between my toes,
Couch wrestling, laughing til my belly aches
Pin cushions, candles of bergamot and berries
Eucalyptus
A great sitting chair
The desert in the spring
Monsoons and thunderstorms
Diners and doodles on napkins
Singing in the shower
Grapefruit with honey
Lemonade and mint
Lamps, books on shelves
Handmade treasures
Suitcases and dresses hung
on the door's edge
Babies and nursery rhymes
Storks and origami cranes
Pomegranates, fruit in bowls
Dancing in the kitchen-
Singing in the car-
Loving someone with all of my being
Fresh flowers and subways
in foreign cities
Boutique weddings
Traveling the globe with a backpack
and a book
Chimney tops
Faded buildings
Mortar and pestles
Scribbles and doodles
Circus lovers
and
Old love letters
