...out of focus...

This week has been a little rough... at least since Tuesday evening. So I went on a blind date (by the persuasion of a co-worker) and it
made me think of my ex...

so after a few beers, I found myself at his house, as if no time had gone by. Needless to say, I felt so defeated, not being over him yet, and spilling my guts to him. And worse, after I left, I remembered that oh so familiar feeling of letting go, yet again. Sorry to bum you out, but things have been a bit somber...

Well, it's nice and warm here in Arizona... in the eighties I believe?? Time to pull out the swimsuit and basque in the sun!

Spring into the Kitchen!

Oh, the weather here is gorgeous and we are officially in spring! Couldn't resist a little on-line window shopping...

I love aprons! When I wear them and cook, I feel more inspired and sophisticated...
It sounds totally silly, but they make me feel like I'm in a film,
creating some masterpiece for my friends and loved ones.
I think there should be National apron day!

I'm in chateau obsession right now... have any of you seen A Good Year with Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard? Oh, how I would give anything to live in that charming chateau in the south of France... I'd wake up every morning, have un cafe et un croissant on the terrace
with Edith Piaf playing on the record player...

behind closed curtains...

It is sexy, perhaps

or frightening

nonetheless

there is ecstasy either,

or grief.

People are separated by them,

Others brought to intimacy behind

their vanishing hands.

Secrets are kept secret by them, unharmed.

Countries divided by them...

the unassuming veil of a curtain.

But it is the child, with her bare feet and running

who slips behind the curtain, for neither deviancy

nor persuasion

who waits to be found,

who laughs as quiet as her innocence,

which shimmers lightly on faint chimes

and tethers in the wind, thin as silk.

The Oscar party was a hit, even though it was rainy and cold... we just bundled up with blankets and bottles of champagne...

I can't wait to post my favorite dresses... just need another day off! Hope your week is off to a great start!

Oscar time again, and every year we do our annual mussels, steamed into oblivion in butter and wine with rosemary and leeks {yum}. And, as one should, a proper glass of champagne is always in order (or two...or three!)

A toast to all of the fabulous actors and actresses who move us in such profound ways through film- And of course with their magnificent gowns...

A Day for Flowers

Well,
To put things mildly, I have had some medical issues lately (I won't bore you with the details...) and I haven't felt like myself for a while. But today after my visit, I felt like myself. It wasn't a life defining moment, nor were there fireworks or elation...but it was a subtle reminder of who I am when I am most happiest, and healthy... and as I was grabbing some groceries I thought of flowers.

I treated myself to a delectable little bouquet, that are now bestowed on my bedside table:)

Here's to all of you facing struggles, or just enjoying the beauty of early spring. Today was a day for flowers.

Reminisce...

The apricot tree has blossomed

and yet I am shifty, like water pulling against itself

bring me home some dried branches, and love me

until the milk and sugar are gone,

until the bed is empty and white.
